About

The conference will be hosted at the The University of Texas at Austin’s Thompson Conference Center in Austin, Texas. Conference sessions will take place June 12-13.  On June 14th attendees will attend topic-oriented discussion groups to plan for future research, training and practice implementation based on issues presented during conference sessions. June 14th will also include a Military Behavioral Health Short Course (available to active duty service members)

The 2023 Military Social Work & Behavioral Health Conference is a gathering of clinicians, researchers, and veteran service organizations committed to addressing the behavioral health needs of our country’s service members, veterans, caregivers, and family members. This three-day event will feature speakers from the Department of Defense (DoD), the Veterans Health Administration (VA), and private and public sector healthcare systems that serve military-connected populations.

Virtual Attendance

For those who are not able to attend the in-person event, a single virtual track will be offered June 12-13. Attendees will also be able to earn 11 CEUs. Active duty service members attending the Day 3 Military Behavioral Health Short course on June 14th will also be able to join virtually.

An emphasis on social support

Research and practice knowledge have taught us that individuals and families thrive when they receive support from their communities. Given the unique experiences and challenges faced by military and veteran communities, social support can be an incredibly impactful supplement to treatment. As such, the 2023 conference will address this focus on social support with presentations on treatments, research, and programs that focus on ensuring military and veteran community wellness through social support.
