We know that many within our community are fierce advocates for their veteran loved ones, but it can be difficult to support someone who does not want or is reluctant to receive help. For many, you may not know how to approach this conversation, or you may have tried (many times), and it's just not working.
If you're asking yourself 'How do I encourage my loved one to receive mental health care? ' 'How do I know if he/she may need mental health care?' 'What are signs and symptoms I should be looking out for?' 'How do I learn more about the treatment options or understand a diagnosis or treatment plan? ' 'How can I encourage my loved one to follow through with treatment and support them? 'What impact will this have on my family?', or 'What resources are there available for me?' then the Coaching Into Care program could be the solution.
We are excited to welcome our guest speaker, Dr. Steven Sayers, who is the Director of the VA's Coaching Into Care initiative. He will present different techniques you can use to support and assist your family and veteran's journey with mental health care, as well as share more about the Coaching Into Care program.
If you would like support now to support a veteran in your life through their mental health care journey call the VA at 888-823-7458 and a Coaching into Care licensed psychologist or social worker will give you tips and connect you to resources.
To be eligible for this group you must be the spouse or partner of an active duty service member or post-service veteran, a caregiver, a divorced spouse from a veteran or active duty service member, or a friend of a service member or veteran.
