Academics

Lamar University is nationally recognized for our quality curriculum for all degree program levels: Bachelor'sMaster's and Doctoral. The university is broken into five undergraduate colleges, one graduate college, and an honors college. The university stresses academic achievement by emphasizing hands-on learning at all levels, providing ample opportunities for undergraduate research and supporting an excellent Honors Program. Lamar University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of 29 public universities recognized as a Carnegie Doctoral Research University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Several LU colleges and programs hold additional specialized certifications and accreditations recognizing their quality and expertise.

Veterans Affairs Office

We assist all students attending Lamar University using education benefits under the Department of Veterans Affairs Educational Assistance Programs and Texas Hazlewood Exemption Act in the pursuit of a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral Degree. Our goal is to provide the pertinent information required to all our VA students attending Lamar University.

Veterans are afforded the same rights and must meet all academic requirements and maintain the same academic standards as any student attending Lamar University.

Process for Applying to Lamar University and Applying for Educational Benefits

  3. After acceptance to Lamar University, register for classes with an academic advisora. For Freshmen/Sophomores: Undergraduate Advising Center: 409-880-8822b. For Juniors/Seniors/Graduate Students/Doctoral Students: Contact your Departmental Advisor
  4. Turn in required documentation to the Lamar VA Office (see Lamar Welcome Packet based on benefits below)
