Counseling

The aim of the Counseling program at the Veterans One Stop is to treat the complex issues related to a veteran’s past service. Issues such as PTS, Moral Injury, Depression, Anxiety, and Military Sexual Trauma are addressed by licensed professional counselors utilizing evidence based treatments.  In addition to professional counseling services, the Veterans One Stop also recognizes the importance of utilizing Peer to Peer support as a fundamental element in the healing process.  These services are provided to the veteran as well as their dependents.  It has been proven that to effectively treat the veteran one must also address the needs and issues of the family unit.

"The Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop ; provided 19,196 counseling and peer support services during the 2017 fiscal year ; to veterans & their families. "

Employment Resources

The Heart of Texas Veteran One Stop recognizes the importance of addressing the employment and vocational needs of our veterans. We are proud to collaborate with the Texas Veterans Commission to provide in-house services and a full time Employment Specialist. These services include resume assistance, job matching, referral services, employer outreach, job search workshops, vocational guidance, labor market information, and additional training opportunities. We collaborate with community and state partners such as the Heart of Texas Work Force Solutions and TexVet to make sure we provide the most up to date information available.

VA Claims

The Heart of Texas Veterans Services Officers serve as advocates for McLennan County veterans and their dependents. The VSO’s provide assistance to veterans and their dependents regarding compensation, pension, medical, educational, insurance, legal concerns and death benefits. They also assist veterans and their dependents in obtaining important documentation needed to apply for benefits. We are proud to also have a member of the team that can assist veterans and family members that live outside of McLennan County. Services are rendered at the One Stop as well as the veteran’s home,  medical center, courts, and in the community.

Legal

The Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop is proud to partner with Baylor Law School through the Baylor Law School Veterans Clinic. Since its inception, the Baylor Law School Veterans Clinic has provided free legal advice to hundreds of local veterans. At monthly clinics, located at the Veterans One Stop, Baylor Law students assist local attorneys in providing legal assistance to military veterans.

The Veterans One Stop is a 501(c)(3) serving active duty, veterans, and their families since 2012. The mission is to provide veterans and their families a facility where fundamental services can be accessed in one location.

The Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop recognizes that one entity cannot accomplish the mission alone.  We are proud to collaborate with our community partners who each bring a level of expertise to the table.  The following are a list of those who have joined us in the fight.
