Freedom Alliance

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund honors the bravery and dedication exhibited by Americans in our Armed Forces who have sacrificed life or limb defending our country by providing educational scholarships to their children. Thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guardsmen have been killed defending our great nation and it is our honor to help them achieve the dream of a college education.
Thousands more members of our Armed Forces have been permanently disabled, leaving their families in difficult financial situations. Their children – the sons and daughters of America’s military heroes – (many of whom are now young) will be eligible for a Freedom Alliance Scholarship in the years to come.
Freedom Alliance has established a permanent Scholarship Trust Fund to aid the children of these brave Americans, so that we will be able to help the children of American heroes when it is their turn to attend college.
Through the generosity of so many patriotic Americans, the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships for thousands of young Americans, reminding them that their parents’ sacrifice will never be forgotten by a grateful nation.
Scholarships AwardedThrough the generosity of thousands of Americans, the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $8 million in scholarships to the sons and daughters of American heroes.
Freedom Alliance awarded $25,000 to the USS Cole Memorial Fund for the children of the 17 sailors who were killed in the terrorist attack against the USS Cole in October 2000, and $40,000 to the dependent children of the 21 soldiers and 33 sailors killed at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
EligibilityStudents are eligible if they are the dependent child of an active duty service member who was killed or permanently disabled (100% VA rating) as the result of an operational mission or training accident, or who is currently certified as POW or MIA. The applicant must also be a senior in high school, a high school graduate or enrolled in an institution of higher learning, including colleges, universities, or vocational schools. Every day Freedom Alliance pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform and fight for our freedom. We do this through our Support Our Troops program, a year-round outreach which honors members of our Armed Forces – those who have been wounded in combat and are recuperating at military hospitals throughout the United States – as well as those currently serving on the frontlines. We also provide support and comfort to grieving military families, whose loss is immeasurable.

TROOP APPRECIATION EVENTS

Freedom Alliance has no shortage of creative supporters who host events to benefit our Support Our Troops program. These events include golf tournaments, car shows, bake sales, outdoor sporting contests, and Poppy’s Wish Heroes Vacations to name a few.

TROOP APPRECIATION DINNERS

For several years now Freedom Alliance has been hosting Troop Appreciation Dinners to honor America’s troops for their service and sacrifice. For some service members the dinners are the first “thank you” they have received since joining the military. For injured service members a dinner is often the first public outing they attend.

PRESENTS FOR PATRIOTS

Christmas can be bittersweet for families depending on their circumstances and this is no less true for those who serve in our nation’s armed forces. There might be a family member deployed overseas during the holiday, or perhaps their loved one has returned not quite the same as when he or she left.Financial crisis, time constraints, and other stresses can make Christmas a cause for anxiety and sorrow rather than celebration for our military families. As difficult as these situations can be, this need creates an advantageous time to demonstrate goodwill for our heroes at home.

The Freedom Alliance Presents for Patriots program is our way to give each home in hardship the assistance they need.Working with contacts at bases across the country, families are identified and put in touch with us.

We work with these families to ensure every gift is special and that each child receives the Christmas they deserve.  Last year, we were able to take on 53 families, impacting all together 231 people and this year our goal is to provide Christmas for 75 families! There many ways you can be involved this year, for more information contact Jennifer Ohman at jen.ohman (at) freedomalliance.org.
