Npower mobilizes the tech community and provides veterans, individuals, nonprofits and schools opportunities to build tech skills and achieve their potential.
Today NPower's services have expanded to match corporate volunteers, through an online marketplace, with a national network of nonprofits and schools needing this expertise. Additionally the agency offers workforce development training in the technology field to young adults and veterans. The agency operates four offices nationally, including one in Dallas, with locations in Fort Worth and Collin County (planned).
In 2013, the agency opened the first ever free veteran technology program in Dallas, to reduce the unemployment rate for men and women who served the country regardless of era. The Technology Service Corps (TSC) includes technical classes, mentoring from business leaders, internships and career development workshops at leading corporation and nonprofits, industry-recognized certification and employment services.
NPower offers the TechCareer Accelerator program. This company provides cloud-based service management for corporations in areas including IT and HR. The six-week training offered by NPower is for a help-desk platform used by a number of companies including Verizon. Students participate in an extensive 20-week program that includes detailed classroom work, professional mentoring, internship and job placement support
Due to the high level of security in the technology and banking industries, individuals in the program will have to be of high moral character and not have any felony convictions. All applicants must have at least a GED, be honorably discharged from the military or be on active duty with the U.S. Armed Forces, and pass a background check.
