Veterans Court - Nueces County

Program Description

Founded in 2011 to address the growing number of veterans involved in the criminal justice system, the Nueces County Veterans Treatment Court incorporates a team of professionals using a multi-disciplinary team approach to assist eligible veterans. The Veterans Treatment Court provides treatment and education for veterans suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse issues within the criminal justice system and assists them with successful reintegration into society and family life. The Nueces County Veterans Treatment Court is a voluntary 12-24 month intensive supervision program and involves a dedicated team of professionals led by the Honorable Judge Jack Pulcher. Upon successful completion of the Veterans Treatment Court program, participants may be eligible for dismissal of eligible pending criminal charges. Eligibility is evaluated by the Veterans Treatment Court Treatment team on case-by-case basis with exclusions to certain offences.

General requirements include:

  • Active Duty service, or
  • Honorable or General Under Honorable Discharge
  • Mental Health related issue as a result of service (PTSD, TBI, etc.), and
  • A nexus between the mental health issue, the alleged crime, and military service
  • No TDC history
  • No sexual offenders
